Application

Policies and Procedures

The following guidelines are considered a contract between YOGA 108 and the applicant. Please understand that by submitting your application you agree to the terms and conditions described.

Tardiness and Absences

While we all might prefer to operate on ‘yoga time’, the start and end times of the program are a responsibility to both parties. You will receive the hours of training for which you are applying. In return, you will be expected to be prepared to start each session at the appointed time.  Expect that each session will begin with a yogic practice to center, to connect and to establish the intention of the session.   It is important that you do not miss that practice. Please arrive a few minutes early to use the bathroom, set up your mat and props and quiet yourself into the space.

The program provided to you meets the requirements of the Yoga Alliance in terms of contact hours provided. As such, nothing on the agenda is considered ‘optional’. The program has been created efficiently to offer you a comprehensive and quality experience. Each session is experiential and important to your overall training experience - difficult to ‘make up’.

That said, it is expected that ‘life happens’. Late happens and absent happens. If the absence or tardiness is last minute, please contact the teacher responsible for the session. Contact them by telephone rather than email. If the absence or tardiness is known in advance, please bring your needs and concerns to the forefront proactively. No need to stress.

Should a tardiness or absence become a habit that violates the agreement between the parties and Yoga 108 is not able to attest to the student having completed the program requirements, the lead instructor retains the right to dismiss the student or deny certification without a refund.

When it is necessary to miss session time, an agreeable solution for make-up time will be arranged. Make-up time must be in the same topic area as the missed material. Trainees are expected to find suitable make-up opportunities and to cover any costs incurred. Make-up time must be approved by the lead instructor.

Make-up Menu

Book report: Complete a book report and personal reflection on a book relevant to the topic missed.

Movie: Watch a movie on the topic missed. Write a personal reflection.

Private session: Schedule a private session with lead instructor or other approved instructor to cover material missed at your own cost.

Shadow a mentor: Complete an observation and personal reflection on the work of a master teacher in the topic area that was missed.

Outside training: Take a workshop/teacher training from an outside studio or on-line source (at your own cost) on the topic missed.

On-line continuing education offerings: YogaUOnline, Udemy, Yoga International and others offer online courses for yoga teachers. Please note that taking a yoga class on YogaGlo is not considered make-up for missed classroom content.

Note that some topics (i.e. chakras) may require an ‘experience’ to adequately fulfill make up requirements.

All homework and projects must be completed in order for certification requirements to be met.

Regarding cell phones, iWatches and other electronics:  Respectfully refrain from using your phones and other electronics during class sessions and practices. Specifically, you are asked not to take pictures, videos or voice recordings of yourself, others, PowerPoint slides, etc. Please do not accept calls, texts or messages during classes and sessions. You are welcome to take notes with pen/pencil and paper.

Lunch and Breaks

Lunch breaks and ‘stretch’ breaks will be embedded in the day. Because we are working short days, breaks will not be long enough to leave the building. Please plan to bring snacks and water. Teacher training makes one hungry! When packing food, please choose healthy, lighter options that are vegetarian. No coffee or junk food, please. Our food choices are a part of our yoga practice….and they impact our community and our planet. Please pack accordingly and plan to recycle.

Props and Materials

Props will be available at the studio.

Bring the books required for each session as well as your personal journal and a pen/pencil.

Allergies and Comfort

It is possible that some session will include the use of incense, candles or lotions. Please advise the lead instructor of sensitivities or allergies. Similar, communicate your needs and preferences around food. And know that the studio might be cooler or warmer than you expect. Please dress in layers.

Refund Policy

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required with your application. Early bird/pay in full tuition is due September 4th. Or the first payment of your payment plan is due no later than the first session.

Following the start of the program, no refund is provided.
